This 42 yard Woodchip U-Blade blade will be used on a 360HP Komatsu D155-AX Dozer sold by Craig Dealer R.C. Hazleton to feed the Boralex wood-residue thermal power station located in Fort Fairfield Maine. This power station produces 252.0 GWh annually consuming over 400,000 tons a year.
The blade took welders Kevin McDougall and Scott Wilson 7 days to build, with the support of over 50 tradesmen and women working in the Craig Fabrication and Fit & Weld departments. It features 25 degree end wings and plates to contain the load and lays back 30 degrees for efficient loading. The blade stands more than 7.5 feet tall and is 18 feet wide and weighs 8400Lbs (4.2tons). It was painted in house using a custom cart to which it was both bound and welded for safety. |
